Dual Shower Heads
Dual shower heads are part of a growing trend to run regular
bathrooms into personal spas. Previously, a bathroom consisted of a
bath tub or a shower (or a bath tub with shower fixtures). These days,
bathrooms have a separate tub and shower, heated flooring, steam showers,
massaging shower heads, Jacuzzi tubs, and dual shower heads, among other
things.
Of course, it seems that this new bathroom trend is coming at a time
when exorbitance is the norm, but conservation is necessary. Dual shower
heads, while extremely nice and relaxing, are a problem in two ways:
· They use much more water in the same amount of time than a
regular, singular low flow shower head.
· People showering beneath dual shower heads may become very
relaxed and end up taking longer showers. A longer shower means not
only using more water, but also using more energy to heat that water.
So, before you go out and buy dual shower heads are some of the other
spa-like bathroom fixtures available on the market today, consider first
whether or not it is truly worth it. And if you do decide to buy dual
shower heads (which you very well might – they are quite nice),
consider buying low flow ones, and consider using them only when you
most need to relax. You do not need to use them every day – you
can save them for special occasions.
It is a law that no shower head can deliver more than 2.5 gallons per
minute – look for a dual shower head that delivers even less (and,
perhaps, only 2.5 gallons per minute when the two shower heads are combined).
